Sometimes I reminisce about my time in the grow shop before I
discovered led grow lights. Life was simple then. Let me take you
back for a moment. In those days no one ever asked me to explain the
spectral distribution chart. Truth be told, I had never even seen one.
All I needed to know is if they wanted 600 watts or a 1000. They
purchased their ballast, bulb, and reflector and then came back six
months later for a replacement like clockwork. Back then people knew
what they wanted. No one ever asked me to define the microEinstein
or to draw them a sketch of the ideal placement for their HPS. It is
difficult to let go of the good old days.
In the present, life is not so simple. The majority of people know
little to nothing about gardening under led grow lights. This is one of
the reasons that the newsletter has become so unexpectedly popular.
People do not know what they want or need. Our clients depend on us
to guide them through the learning curve. I am not complaining. I love
my job. There is a certain amount of satisfaction that I get every time I
can share a more efficient way of doing things. The point is that people
need information in order to feel confident in their transition to LEDs.
As it is with all new technology- acceptance is largely dependent
